Spalted Beech
Splated beech, also referred to as truffle beech is one of the most unique and rare woods available. As with all species, every tree has distinct characteristics, but spalting alters the tree's appearance in ways that cannot be replicated. Spalting of beech is wood coloration caused by fungi.
Oak
Oak makes for a great chopping board owing to its properties for a quick regeneration. It means some small scratches, which appear after cutting, close up quickly. What is more, oak cutting boards have antiseptic proprieties. They block the penetration of bacteria to our food. If you have a good quality set of knives, you don’t have to worry that a blade would break during the intense cutting. An oak cutting board works great with every type of knife, creating an unbeatable duo.
Ash
Ash is an excellent cutting board material. Though its ring-porous ash rates about 1,300 lbf on the Janka scale and makes a hard, durable cutting surface. It also usually has a pleasantly light tone that makes it a beautiful addition to your kitchen.
Walnut
A great walnut cutting board is just as functional as it is eye-catching. The rich colour and distinct grain patterns found in walnut wood are part of what sets it apart — like many hardwoods, walnut is also naturally antimicrobial! Plus, it won't dull your knives and is easy to maintain with proper care
